Before I Go


On March, when there was a sea teacher registration, without thinking twice, I immediately registered. I just asked my parents before take a TOEFL test. At first they didn't agree but I assured them that if there was a test it wouldn't necessarily mean I would pass. On April, before the test I had to ask permission not to attend the class. There were 38 people take the test. I was very insecure about the result but it prove that I pass the test. My feelings at that time were mixed, I thought about whether I should continue or not, I felt my English wasn't very good.

On June we had a meeting to discus about student placement in the program. I was placed in SRU (Surat Thani University) in Thailand. I was very curious about that University. Then after several months, approaching the appointed month, I was still confused about whether I should continue or not. Two of my friends didn't continue the program, I was even more confused because of that. There is still one more selection, the interview selection. Starting by introducing myself briefly and telling about my experience. I was so nervous that time that made me lost focus and couldn't answer. Even though I'm still confused, my heart feels like I have to continue no matter what happens. Until the time came for me to go to another country to seek knowledge. On August 15, 2023, all student sea teacher program had a Sea-Teacher student orientation before we go to aboard.

Sea-Teacher Student Orientation

On Saturday, August 26, 2023, the day before leaving I spent time with my friend. It was my last time to hangout with my friend in Indonesia. After that at 9.30 PM I went to the appointment place, front of the clinic UPGRIS, I went by Grab car. When I got there I felt a little sad because my friends were being accompanied by their families, but it was okay. after all the participant come, we departure to Jakarta at 10.00 PM.

We arrived at Soekarno Hatta airport around 5.00 AM. Because we were not familiar with the airport, we were very confused the first time and ended up asking the officers. I was very excited to get on the plane, When I heard the airport announcement. It felt little bit scare on the plane because the weather wasn't good. The whole trip was tired but very enjoyable. When we arrived in Thailand at immigration we had a little problem. It turned out that exchange students had to have a visa even though it was less than 1 month. Me and all the student exchange didn't have a visa so we very confuse and little bit scare if I didn't allow to go to Thailand. But in the end me and my friend were allowed to.

Summary and Suggestions

 PURPOSE OF PRACTICUM In this sea-teacher project there are several objectives of this project : pre-service teacher students can develop their teaching and pedagogy skills, pre-service teacher students can improve their English language skills and pre-service teacher students can gain a broader regional and world view. Also, pre-service teacher students can gained very valuable and unforgettable experience. I think all the objective of the practicum are meets. I can develop my teaching and pedagogy skill by practicing teaching everyday. I can improve my English because I only can speak English in another country. lastly i can gain a broader regional and world view.
