In this sea-teacher project there are several objectives of this project : pre-service teacher students can develop their teaching and pedagogy skills, pre-service teacher students can improve their English language skills and pre-service teacher students can gain a broader regional and world view. Also, pre-service teacher students can gained very valuable and unforgettable experience. I think all the objective of the practicum are meets. I can develop my teaching and pedagogy skill by practicing teaching everyday. I can improve my English because I only can speak English in another country. lastly i can gain a broader regional and world view. This practicum from SRU focuses us on teaching training. So for a month I really learned how to teach well at school. different from other pre-service teacher students who also took part in a series of activities on campus, I only took part in a series of events from the school that accepted us.
The results of this practicum were not physically visible, but my knowledge and teaching skills increased. even my English has improved fluently. Not only that, I have also become more confident in public places and my public speaking has also improved because I often practice teaching in class which requires confidence and a loud voice.
- THE CHALLENGES OF PRACTICUM
There are not many challenges in this practicum because I feel that I enjoy doing it. It's just that in the past I was embarrassed to speak English to other people because my English was not fluent. but in this program, take it or not, I have to speak English to communicate. other challenges in teaching in the classroom are in communicate, control the class, prepare material and also create an active class.
Overall I am very happy with this program. this program is very helpful for students who want to know the development of education abroad. pre service teacher students get a lot of knowledge in teaching, managing classes, preparing classes, interacting with students and so on. we also get life lessons in this program, because we are required to live independently in other countries that we don't even speak the language. besides that we also get knowledge about other countries such as cultures, places, food and habits that are different from our home countries. i myself feel at ease because this collaboration takes place with good people and runs smoothly.
This program is good enough, it just needs to be maintained. I am very happy to be part of this project/program. My suggestion is to add more practicum time, because I think one month is too short. one more suggestion is that before the program is implemented, SEAMEO, the participants and the campus can meet first, either in person or online to creates a sense of comfort.
