Wat Klong Chanuan School

Wat Klong Chanuan School is located in Klong Chanuan Subdistrict, Wiangsa District, Suratthani Province, in the South of Thailand. It was established in 1930 B.C. by Father Prom Kesaro, the Abbot of Klong Chanuan temple.

School has been expanded in full scheme since 1983 and has been able to seat more students to 6 levels And has extended its curriculum; class 1-3 in Kindergarten level, and class 1-6 in Primary level. It has around 15-20 students each class. Wat Klong Chanuan School's Curriculum is Thailand Basic Education Core Curriculum B.E. 2551 (A.D.2008).

The school is a bit remote, about half an hour from the resort I'm staying at. the school building looks poorly maintained because it's an old school building, and the school hasn't moved in for a long time. the school has two fields, a field for ceremonies and another large field for sports. there are two teachers' rooms for regular teachers and also higher-level school administrators, as well as a director's room. There are 6 classrooms for elementary school and 2 for kindergarten, a playground, a cafeteria and a gymnastic, 4 separate bathrooms, a computer room, a warehouse and a meeting room. In one classroom there are teacher desks and student desks, unfortunately student desks and chairs are still inadequate, and need to be levelled because some chairs still use plastic chairs. In the classroom also has one new LCD.

  • The nametape represents the name of our school "Wat Klong Chanuan School"

Teachers and students at wat klong chanuan school have good closeness and interaction. when in class students are active to participate in learning. even during breaks many students and teachers do activities together, such as playing badminton or volleyball together or also chatting together after lunch and some even help the teacher to sell ice cream in the canteen. But their closeness does not diminish the students' sense of courtesy and obedience to their teachers.

In the morning students have to come at 7:30 before the ceremony starts. after the ceremony students go back to class and take off their shoes. even when they go back to activities outside the school they are not allowed to wear shoes anymore. students in Thailand are very obedient to that, I don't see any defiance with that. in class, students are disciplined to follow the lessons even until the afternoon. after that in the afternoon students also have to attend some kind of afternoon assembly.
